About the Author

Penny’s books are deeply rooted in her resilience forged through adversity.

Growing up in the Saskatchewan prairies of Canada, Penny courageously faced her childhood shaped by both a congenital deformity and the weight of generational trauma. These experiences have sculpted a unique voice in literature, one that speaks to the strength found in overcoming.

Penny explores the complexities of human identity, the journey towards self-discovery, and the healing power of God’s grace. Her work delves into the shadows of personal and ancestral pain, offering light through tales of transformation and hope.

Penny’s entry into the world of writing was influenced by A Course in Miracles, leading to their first published piece, Mind Files, Perception, Perspective & Problems, which was celebrated for its raw authenticity and emotional depth. This work not only marked Penny’s literary debut but also became a beacon for others navigating through their own traumatic histories.

Her latest work, Aces High: An Autobiography, unflinchingly explores the raw details of her traumatic past, drawing powerful connections between the health outcomes outlined in the renowned Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) study and her own personal struggles.

Mind Files is a program designed to teach you how your mind's process keeps you trapped in the past and gives you the tools to set yourself free.

For Abuse & Trauma Survivors

The Mind Files Method is a gentle, structured approach to emotional healing and self-discovery.

Rooted in trauma-informed principles and narrative therapy, the Mind Files Method helps you:

  • Understand your emotional patterns

  • Learn how to recognize limiting beliefs and rewrite your internal narrative with truth and grace

  • Restore a sense of safety and self trust through predictable empowering reflection

For Mental Health Advocates & Therapists

The Mind Files Method is a visual learning system that translates recovery concepts into clear, easy-to-grasp visual files for clients who struggle with abstract or verbal-only approaches.

* Improves comprehension for clients with learning differences, cognitive fatigue or high emotional overwhelm

* Accelerates insight by making invisible processes visible and trackable

* Supports retention through recurring visual anchors clients can return to between sessions

* Facilitates collaboration by giving therapist and client a shared, external reference point

For Public & Private School Educators

The Mind Files Method guides you to foster healthier, more collaborative relationships with coworkers, parents, and students.

Not every wound is visible. Many students carry Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) into the classroom: neglect, abuse, loss, chronic stress, or invisible battles at home. These experiences shape how they learn, behave, and relate.

What this gives teachers:

Clarity: a straightforward visual model for how past experiences become reinforced emotional responses

Interpretation tools: Learn how to read shutdowns, outbursts, and avoidance as activated files, not defiance

For Spiritual Therapists & Faith Communities

The Mind Files Method maps spiritually charged narratives into visual files so spiritual caregivers can help people see how belief, meaning, and emotion become linked.

What this gives pastoral caregivers:

A nonthreatening entry point that reduces shame and opens conversation about faith wounds.

Who benefits: Individuals wrestling with spiritual trauma, moral injury, loss of faith, or shame; churches, chaplains, and spiritual directors seeking a concrete, compassionate method for accompaniment.

This method is not a replacement for therapy, but a companion to it. It's especially helpful for those who feel overwhelmed by traditional talk therapy, or who want a private, self-paced way to begin healing.
